Tahera Nasiri is a human rights activist and a defender of women's rights from Afghanistan, she is still among the protesting girls who joined street protests against the misogynistic and oppressive policies of the Taliban group, and is also known as one of the prominent media figures related to Afghan women's issues. On the republic government of Afghanistan, she was an active member of the Afghan Women's Network and was also an employee of one of the country's private banks. Prior to the Taliban takeover of Kabul in August 2021, Tahera Nasiri was the final semester student of Kabul University which all schools and Universities band by the Taliban on girls and women. After the Taliban regained power, she courageously took action alongside protesting women and girls. Together, she fiercely fought for the preservation of women’s and minorities’ rights, vehemently condemning targeted killings, the ban on girls’ education, and other oppressive measures imposed upon Afghan women. Her prominent presence as a vocal media activists has solidified her reputation and made her a recognizable figure in this ongoing battle for justice. She is in exile and lives in Canada. On August 15, 2023, coinciding with the second anniversary of the fall of the republican government in Afghanistan, she founded a protest movement under the name of the "Women's Movement towards Freedom" so that she can carry out her human rights and litigation activities in a coherent and coordinated manner. She led and manage this movement and has continued her human rights activities with a large number of girls and women, member of this organization.
