Over the past five years of Taliban rule, Afghanistan has been facing a deep humanitarian and human rights crisis. Yet perhaps no part of society has paid as high a price for this situation as women and girls.
Women have been deprived of education and employment, their presence in public life has been increasingly restricted, and many of their fundamental freedoms have come under pressure and severe limitations. This is not merely the deprivation of a few rights; it is an attempt to erase women from social life, from the future, and from participation in shaping the destiny of their country.
Yet women of Afghanistan have not surrendered. Amid fear, threats, and restrictions, there are still women who stand, protest, and raise their voices to the world.
These videos are part of that voice of resistance from members of the Women’s Movement towards Freedom, a voice that speaks of pain, but also carries hope, courage, and the determination to achieve freedom.
We want the world to know: Afghanistan cannot be imagined without its women. The exclusion of women means the exclusion of half of society and the silencing of a country’s future.
Women of Afghanistan are not alone. Their voices must be heard, their stories must be preserved, and their struggle for freedom and human dignity must continue.
